We asked a few of our students this week what their distance-learning experience has been like thus far. We can imagine it’s been rough for our students to transition from weekly Leaving to Learn’s to a mandated stay inside order. Here’s what they had to say…
What has been your favorite online learning experience and or class so far and why?
“If I’m being honest I prefer actual school then having to do work online, based on the fact that it feels overwhelming.”
– Kyren, 10th grade
Have you picked up any new hobbies, or, worked more on an existing hobby since school has been closed?
“I’ve been able to get more into writing and playing one game in particular. Since school, I didn’t have much time for writing, I may have been able to write 1,000 words in a chapter but with all of the time that I have, I’ve been able to bring that word count up to over 10,000 words. Along with this, I’ve been able to grow in building skills in both Minecraft and Sims 4, I have always been mediocre at building landscapes, houses/building and such but with so much free time, I’ve been able to learn new tricks and styles of building.”
– Samantha, 9th grade
How have you been staying active while staying at home and distancing yourself from the public?
“While at home, I’ve been able to start learning new dances, learn the guitar, I’ve been able to write more of my book, and been able to play more games with my friends.”
– Samantha, 9th grade
What is something positive that has come out of Coronavirus for you and your family?
“A time to relax.”
– Kyren, 10th grade
“I’ve been able to spend more time pursuing my interest and finding new things that I love.” –
Samantha, 9th grade
What has been the worst part about the Coronavirus for you and/or your family?
“Going insane basically… For some reason being told to stay in the house bothers us all.”
– Kyren, 10th grade
