OneApp Timeline

K-12 Application typically open in November and close near the end of January. Placements are typically released to the families in March/April. Open enrollment starts typically in early June. Go to EnrollNOLAPS for more info.

Shadow Days

Choosing a high school is a very important decision. The purpose of a Shadow Day is to introduce students to New Harmony’s inclusive culture, to see our day-to-day activities, and to meet the staff and other students. A Shadow Day should help a student and their families determine if New Harmony is a fit.

Student Ambassadors serve as hosts, and the Guest Student follows their schedule with them from Advisory until lunch (about 8:30-12).

Please email enrollment@newharmonyhigh.org if you would like to schedule or attend a Shadow Day.

Enroll At New Harmony

Because our school design seeks to put students as drivers of passion and interest-based learning, we are looking to enroll students who seek education methods that extend beyond a traditional classroom setting. We seek to enroll students who enjoy hands-on learning, who want to work on issues that affect Louisiana, and who have a love for the culture and ecology that comprises our region.

Enrollment is Ongoing

New Harmony is a free public open-enrollment and open-access Type 2 charter school. As a Type 2 charter school, any Louisiana resident is eligible to enroll at New Harmony. EnrollNOLA facilitates all applications for all students pending seat availability. There is no lottery system run by the school. Please visit enrollnolaps.org to submit an application. Note enrollment deadlines and proceed accordingly.

Once placed at New Harmony, our enrollment process will take place through an online system or in person if you prefer. You will need the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records
  • Test Scores / Final Report Card
  • Parent / Guardian Identification (driver’s license or passport)
  • Proof of Louisiana Residency (utility bill, rental lease agreement/mortgage, property tax notice, etc.)
  • IEP or 504 documentation if applicable

Summer Enrollment

If a family is unhappy with their Main Round placement or does not yet have a placement for next year, the next opportunity to choose a school for next year is during Open Enrollment.

  • Open Enrollment is a first-come, first-served enrollment period where families choose a school that has an available seat at their student’s grade level.
  • Families can choose a seat using an online form in the Parent Portal from a computer or phone. Families do not need to come in person to a Family Resource Center for placement.
  • Priorities do not apply during Open Enrollment.
  • Families can find more information at www.enrollnolaps.com/K12OpenEnrollment. As updates are available, they will be posted on this website page.

Finalizing enrollment

Shortly after you receive a seat assignment at New Harmony from NOLAPS, we will send online registration instructions to all who were placed with us within 48 hours of placement. If you did not receive the email please contact the school as soon as possible. You must claim your seat within 5 school days of receiving your placement.
