Meet Danique Dolly
August 5th, 2018What is your education and career background?
I have been in education over 20 years as an advisor, teacher, assistant principal and, for 9 years, as principal — including my own school in Baltimore City. I am working on my doctorate as a Harvard student, attained my Masters in Teaching from Brown University, and I am a proud Morehouse College alumnus.
Why are you passionate about New Harmony?
I wouldn’t say I am passionate about New Harmony, but I believe that a school start up is very important especially during its initial launch phase. I have an interests in supporting and guiding new principals to build capacity to lead in start up environments. Taking an innovative idea and making it a reality for all kids and families is what drives my passion — especially in urban settings.
Who was your most influential teacher during high school and why?
No one at my high school — which is why I do what I do. I had more role models and exemplars outside of high school like Ms. Joan Bonsu who advised me when I was a teen in the NAACP Youth Council. Outside of school was a major place of learning for me during my high school years which is why I believe in New Harmony’s mission.
